New LotR game from EA

Electronic Arts has announced that they are developing a new Lord of the Rings game. To date details of the game are limited but next-gen.biz report that design pages, “featured elements from The Fellowship of the Ring” and Steve Gray (executive producer at EA) has hinted that the new project will be a “story construction kit.”

Lethian – the opera

On 1st July the world premiere of part one of the opera Leithian will take place at Liederkranz Hall, New York City. The opera tells the story of Beren and Lúthien up to the time Beren is rescued by Lúthien from Sauron’s dungeons. There’s further information at adamcjklein.us.

Stage version of LotR closes on 3rd September

Currently being performed at Toronto’s Princess of Wales Theatre, the stage version of Lord of the Rings will close on September 3, having played 230 performances in 31 weeks. The show, with some of the Toronto cast, will still be performed in London in May 2007. You can read more at Playbill.con.

Seven Dora awards for LotR

The stage version of the Lord of the Rings has won seven Dora Mavor Moore Awards. The awards included; outstanding new musical, costume design and choreography. You can read further details at The Globe and Mail.

Hobbits come to London

The musical version of “The Lord Of The Rings” is set to open at London’s Theatre Royal, Drury Lane in 2007.

The £25m adaptation of “The Lord of the Rings” will be shown for the first time in London on 19th June 2007 after its initial run in Canada.

LotR to be released again in August

New Line Home Entertainment is planning on releasing ‘limited edition’ DVD’s of FotR, TTT and RotK this coming August. The 2-disc limited edition sets will include exclusive behind-the-scenes documentaries.
