LOL!!! I like this list 😉
This is absolutely SPOT ON. I really hope that all of this happens. *crosses fingers*
gandalf is still a very wise character, I agree with all seven of these points except the last… Must we forget it was him at the battle of the five armies who kept the men, elves, and dwarves from slaughtering one another?
Also it wasn’t that he left when he felt trouble near by, but that trouble came when he left.
Also when he did leave he was actualy dealing with greater troubles, such as driving the necromancer from mirkwood.
I still want to see Gandalf as an old “grandpa” like figure. I do understand what they were trying to say at deadbolt.com, but still, if you read the Hobbit slowly, paying atention to gandalf’s words, Gandalf does not come across that way at all.

Personally, I took note of the question on how they’ll portray Smaug! They’re absolutely right: there is a stereotype of what a dragon must be like, and the mindless mundane herd expects to see it. if Smaug is to be believable as a villian, even the arch-villian of the movie, they have to break that mold. I certainly hope they do!
I like these ideals. It seems like these are something we must hold to, no matter how glitzy it turns out on the trailer, eh?
I’d agree with most of this, except point 6, which doesn’t go far enough. I think we need / want to see Numenor in its prime. We should see Sauron the gift-giver coming to Numenor, corrupting them and the great armada and all the stuff that follows. What better way to explain the power of the ring aand Aragorn’s backstory?
