Oh no! I had such hopes for that rumor…maybe he’ll still be offered the role? C’mon, del Toro!
I just hope it’s true… and hopefully they’ll find a good actor who looks like a hobbit at the same time, which shouldn’t be such a difficult task… Though I kind of understand the problem they face; either sticking to the canon – or making more people enthusiastic about the movie by choosing someone young and handsome, but not very convincing in the role of an elderly well-off hobbit.
Thank goodness!!! He’s a great actor and really cute and all, but he just doesn’t fit the Bilbo mold. Now, let’s hope Del Toro can find someone who DOES and not just some big name star.
Well, he fits the mold of a Hobbit as well as Elijah Wood does. They both belong to the Hobbits with slightly elivish features, Wood and McAvoy. He definitely could have passed. Ah well, let’s see where this goes.
That’s excellent news! He’s a great actor and all, but he’s just not Bilbo material. I think they need to go for an unknown actor.
Ahh… To me, James would always be Mr Tumnus. Bilbo shouldn’t be played by him, truth be told.
Oh, that’s too bad. I was excited about that. Oh well. I think that Jim Sturgess should play Bilbo.
Ohhh, I really wanted James McAvoy! I wish he could still get in!
I’m rather glad. Like one of the comments above said, he will always be Mr. Tumnus to me.
Well, I’m glad about this. Like everyone else has already said before, he’s a good actor, but not the kind to play Bilbo.
Neither is Jack Black or Daniel Radcliff.
C’mon Del Toro! Choose wisely!
