Means 'Flame of the West'.

Andúril was the sword made from the shards of Elendil's sword, Narsil. It was reforged in Rivendell sometime before the Fellowship began their journey. The Elves drew upon it a device of seven stars set between the crescent Moon and the rayed Sun. Around these they put many runes.

It was carried by Aragorn in the War of the Ring. At the end of the Fellowship's stay in Lothlórien, Celeborn and Galadriel gave Aragorn a sheath for it, with a tracery of flowers and leaves made of silver and gold. There were Elven-runes, giving its name and lineage, made of many gems.
