A Dwarf-lord of the First Age, King of Belegost in the Blue Mountains.

In an alliance with the Eldar and the Edain he went to the Nirnaeth Arnoediad with many of his kin. There the dwarves resisted the attack of Glaurung, defeating the Dragon by stabbing a knife into his belly.

However, during the fight, Azaghâl was killed by Glaurung. His kin picked him up and carried him away, singing a funeral dirge, heedless of the battle around them. None of their enemies dared approach them.
