The Calaquendi were the "Light Elves" - the name given by the Eldar to all those elves who dwelt, or who had ever dwelt, in Aman during the time of the Two Trees of Valinor.

They included the Vanyar, the Noldor, and some of the Teleri. Those of the Calaquendi who returned to Middle-earth were sometimes called the "High Elves", the Tareldar.
