Around the Field of Cormallen in North Ithilien grew the fairest of all the trees of that region. They were called Culumalda, which meant "golden-red".

*Note*: The Culumalda are only ever mentioned in a note by Christopher Tolkien. We can assume by the name of the trees that they would be tall and slender and would be clothed in leaves in the hues of red and gold.
