The third of the Battles of Beleriand, fought in about the 75th year of the First Age.

It started when Morgoth sent his Orcs to ravage Beleriand. They poured through the Pass of Sirion and Maglor's Gap, but they were beaten back north of Dorthonion and were utterly destroyed by the armies of Fingolfin and Maedhros.

This was the greatest victory of the Eldar in the War of the Great Jewels, and it was followed by the Long Peace which lasted for 400 years.
