Ecthelion I was the son of Orodreth.

He was the seventeenth of the Ruling Stewards of Gondor. He it was who re-built the White Tower of Minas Tirith. The tower was afterwards called the Tower of Ecthelion.

He was succeeded by his son Egalmoth of Gondor after ruling for only thirteen years.
