The Ent draught was the 'food' of the Ents. It was drunk like water, but it was more filling and had greater lasting refreshment.

In The Two Towers, Ent draught was described in these terms: "...there was some scent or savour in it which they (Merry and Pippin) could not describe: it was faint, but it reminded them of the smell of distant wood borne from afar by a cool breeze at night. The effect of the draught began at the toes, and rose steadily through every limb, bringing refreshment and vigour as it coursed upwards, right to the tips of the hair."

In The Two Towers, Merry and Pippin were treated to Ent draughts by Treebeard. Something special about those Ent draughts caused both hobbits to grow taller. (Hobbits usually average around three feet, but after visiting Treebeard, Merry and Pippin grew to a towering four and one-half feet tall!)
