Frodo Gardner was the second of Samwise Gamgee and Rosie Cotton's thirteen children. He was named for Frodo Baggins. All of Samwise's children all had the surname Gardner in honour of Sam's work replanting the Shire after the War of the Ring.

He was born in 1423, and had a child in 1462, called Holfast.
