Grond was a battering ram named in memory of the Hammer of the Underworld, which was wielded by Morgoth.

This Grond was forged by the smithies of Mordor and was made of black steel. It was at least was a hundred feet in length. The head was shaped to look like a ravening wolf.

Grond was used to breach the gates of Minas Tirith during the War of the Ring.
