A Hobbit is a small being, rather rare among the races of men as they have secluded themselves in the Shire long ago. They are characterized by their short height, commonly 3.5 feet tall, but hobbits are known that were as tall as 4 foot.

Hobbits are known for their hairy feet and curly (usually) brown hair, as well as their well rounded stomachs. They wear no shoes, because they form a leather like sole on the bottom of their feet. Hobbits usually wear bright colored clothing, mainly yellows and greens.
To many folk, the ways of Hobbits seem quite “quaint.”

Hobbits are neither renowned as great warriors, or counted among the wise. It is said that they only have one real passion, food. This is highly untrue, seeing as if they have grown a high fondness for brewing ales, and smoking pipe weed. Their true love is in peace and quiet, as well as happiness.

Among the most popular Hobbits are Frodo and Bilbo Baggins of Bag End, Samwise Gamgee, Meriadoc Brandybuck and Peregrin Took.
