The Pelóri (‘The Defensive Heights’), also called the Mountains of Aman and the Mountains of Defence, were the mountains that formed the eastern border of Valinor. The chain ran from the far north of Aman’s eastern coast to the far south. The chain also contained Taniquetil, the tallest mountain peak in Arda.

The Valar created the Pelóri after Melkor destroyed the Valar’s former home on Almaren.
