It was given to Barahir in 455 of the First Age, and was still with his descendants in the Fourth Age.

The ring was a design of two serpents with emerald eyes. Their heads met under a crown of golden flowers: one serpent held up the flowers, the other devoured them.

It was a gift from Finrod Felagund to Barahir, for saving his life in the Dagor Bragollach.

Barahir's son Beren used it as an identifying token when he asked help from Finrod in the Quest for the Silmaril.
