Ancalimë was the only child and daughter of Tar-Aldarion and Erendis. She became the first of the Ruling Queens of Númenor and the seventh ruler of Númenor.

Ancalimë did not have much use for men or love and she did not wish to have a son whom she would be forced to dote upon. She was a proud and willful woman and after her father's death she abandoned all of his policies and offered no more aid to Gil-galad of Lindon.

For a long time Ancalimë remained unwed but when her cousin Soronto pressed her to resign the sceptre to him, she wed a man of the Line of Elros named Hallacar and she bore to him a son called Anárion.

After the birth of her son, there was a great deal of strife between Ancalimë and her husband.

Tar-Ancalimë ruled for 205 years and was succeeded by her son Tar-Anárion in 1280 SA. She ruled the Númenóreans for the longest span of time save Elros Tar-Minyatur only.
