Tobold Hornblower was one of the more famous Hobbits, and a bit of a traveller. On a number of occasions, he travelled from the Shire to Bree, and discovered growth and use of Pipeweed, which he brought back to his home at Longbottom, in the South-farthing.

From there came the variety Longbottom Leaf, which was what Merry and Pippin found in Isengard. Another variety, Old Toby was named, of course, after the discoverer himself.
