Now it’s time to have a look at doubled consonants.
In Sindarin these consonants can appear doubled (pronounce them twice as long as a single consonant): ll, mm, nn, rr, ss.

They are written as follows, first ‘ll’ and ‘rr’: in the mode of Beleriand they are simply doubled (as in English), in the mode of Gondor we add an extra line:
te11te11

For ‘nn’ and ‘mm’ we use special symbols in both modes:
te11te11

As you can see the double nn and mm of the mode of Beleriand correspond to the single n and m in the mode of Gondor, so don’t confuse them!
te11te11

For the double ss we use following tengwar:
te11te11

Their usage is parallel to the use of silmë (see lesson 7): in the mode of Beleriand only tengwa 31 is used. In the mode of Gondor we use tengwa 32 except when ‘ss’ is preceded by a diphthong then we use tengwa 31.

Write these Sindarin words in Latin letters:
te11
