The title says it all. As for me my favourite singer has to be Ben Del Maestro. He has the most beautiful voice, and for me it symbolizes hope.

I think they all make a fantastic contribution to the trilogy score and I really could not pick any one as standing out from all the others. So I went for the "I Can't Choose" option.

Is Ben the young male soprano voice that we hear during everyone crying at Gandalf's death, among other places? If so, I have to agree -- I love those parts of the soundtrack.

BILLY BOYD!!! Pippin's song touched me the most. Maybe because it was one of my favorite characters singing it , but his vocals were trully beautiful and I think the words were taken from some of the songs in the beggining of FOTR (which I don't have here with me in my dorm to refer to). Anyway I loved it. That one chick's (that sounds like Bijork (sp?)) song scared me a little. For the credit song, I'd pick Annie's. xx-Amanda

It's hard to choose just one! I was really impressed with Billy Boyd and Viggo Mortensen, though!

You all forget Sheila Chandra... She is singing when Aragorn wakes up after having fallen from the cliff. She has a beautiful voice.
But I'm afraid I had to pick "I can't choose" because I just couldn't. The singers were all so good... I especially love the children's voices (was it just one boy singing?)
But the most surprising has to be Billy Boyd... This man has a lovely voice. I was really surprised how beautiful it was.

I adore the soundtracks, but if I'd have to pick one 'voice' it'd be Viggo Mortensen's, because that part always sends shivers down my spine - even when I'm just walking to my school with my walkman on.

Renee Fleming & Ben Del Maestro are definitely worthy seconds, though; and I also like Billy Boyd's song

I couldn't choose. I agree with what Grey_Pilgrim said.

All of these singers are needed to make such an excellent sound track.

I would have included her but you only get 10 options.

I'm not sure what part that is. But he sings on Forth Eorlingas, when the Rohirrm arrives at Helm's Deep, and in Isengard Unleashed although I'm not sure which part, and in Minas Tirith.

I had to vote for Billy, but that's mainly influenced by my love of Pip because all the singers were beautiful! I loooooove it when Viggo sings, it's just wonderful . Ben Del Maestro is also wonderful though...I looove Forth Eorlingas! How they found such talented people I really don't know .

I couldn't choose either, Enya is one of my favourite artists, but the first time I heard Into the West I was in tears, I hadn't
even seen the film, and believe me, I don't cry easily at things like that!
And yes, I thought Billy Boyd had an amazing voice, I would never have believed it was him singing, but really, I just loved all the music!

I'll go with Ben Del Maestro.

I think the worst was Anne Lennox.

All the singers were excellent (especially Emiliana Torrini), but I have to go with Billy. It might be a bit biased because he`s one of the actors, but I just love his song

I had to say Billy Boyd. When I hear his voice, it reminds me of the scene with the soldiers going to their death. I think he's awesome

I had hard time choosing between Enya and Emilana, but finally Enya won. (Billy for me was more an actor than singer in his scene. It was Pippin singing.)
I have to admit that Anne Lennox spoiled the last song for me.
Pity that HS and PJ didn't choose Enya for it.

I was thinking about that too. One of my first thoughts was why didn't they choose Enya?

Oh I also like Hilary Summers. From the song 'Farewell to Lorien.' It's my favourite song from the whole soundtrack.

Hey now, I thought Annie Lennox's voice was beautiful! Not my fave, but still. *sticks lip out to defy the world* I LOVE Billy's voice. :love:And Ben del Maesto makes me have chills, especially during the charge of the Rohirrim. I really didn't like Renee Fleming as much as Isabel Bayrakdarian and some of the other soloists.

I voted for Ben Del Maestro. I love his voice, it is so pure and beautiful, it touches the soul. Though, I have to say it was hard to choose. It was like picking my favorite fruit, each have its own sweetness and speciality. I especially like Emiliana Torrini's voice in Gollum's Song. It is so beautify and haunting. I also love Enya, she is one of my favorite artists. I don't think I like Annie Lennox's voice that much. It has grown on me, but it took me a while. I guess it wasn't what I was expecting. . . *shrugs*

Yeah I personally thought that Isabel Bayrakdarian should have sang to Twilight and Shadow.

Btw, I love your signature

I really like "may it be" it brought tears to my eyes, but i also really liked pippins song, that also made me cry, it was so sad. I properly embarrased my sister at the cinema crying at pippins song, so people just aren't sensitive!
Oh, and i really liked "into the west", they all make me cry.
I'm goin 2 go before i get the songs stuck in my head (again).

I only have ROTK ST, I would say all the ladies.
Also Enya has a great voice, and Annie Lennox. Well, all ladies voices. But specially love "Twighlight and Shadow" song

Grrr... How could you guys want Enya instead of Annie? Sure Enya's song was good, but Annie's was powerful, sorrowful, beautiful... I try to sing along to it and I just sound like crap because she does it so well. The lyrics to that song are amazing. I couldn't think of a better song to end the trilogy. Come on it won a Golden Globe! Next an Oscar *knock on wood*.

Lay down
your sweet and weary head
Night is falling
you have come to journey's end
Sleep now
and dream of the ones who came before
They are calling
from across the distant shore

Why do you weep?
What are these tears upon your face?
Soon you will see
all of your fears will pass away,
safe in my arms
you're only sleeping.

What can you see
on the horizon?
Why do the white gulls call?
Across the sea
a pale moon rises -
The ships have come to carry you home

Dawn will turn
to silver glass
A light on the water
All souls pass

Hope fades
into the world of night
through shadows falling
out of memory and time
Don't say
We have come now to the end
White shores are calling
you and I will meet again.

And you'll be here in my arms
Just sleeping

What can can you see
on the horizon?
Why do the white gulls call?
Across the sea
a pale moon rises -
The ships have come to carry you home.

And all will turn
to silver glass
A light on the water
Grey ships pass
Into the west

i was going to choose ben, because i love his voice! but then i saw that you included billy, and i had to choose him. he was my absolute favorite (see avatar)!
but i love ben- he sings in all 3 movies, gandalf's death, in dreams, forth ealoringas (sp?), march of the ents, and i think the eagles. correct me if im wrong.

annie was my favorite of the female singers, but i in general like male voices better. i had no idea billy could sing, so i was so surprised i almost didnt cry:cry:!

I've never been a great Annie Lennox fan so I'm slightly biased, but I do think she does a good job with a great song.

I wasn't an Enya fan either! Hard to please or what?! But I love her song on the FOTR soundtrack and I think on the whole I'd have preferred to hear her again, because her voice has that ethereal quality that goes so well with the films.

I prefer her song to Annie's - but I mainly prefer the FOTR soundtrack anyway. Just.

That's exactly what I think. Into the West is a wonderful song, but Annie's voice is in my opinion too harsh for it. It lacks this "elvish" quality of Enya's voice, which would make it just fantastic.

Don't forget Elizabeth Fraser. Howard and other people chose her because her voice is elvish too. She sings in Lothlorien and Isengard Unleahsed.

Very very VERY (I stress very ) hard decision between Annie Lennox and Enya but I ended up voting for Enya. May It Be was beautiful. Yet Into The West was powerful as well. I guess I should have chosen the I can't choose option
