Hi! i'm 16 and re-decorating my room, around the top of my room I would like to have something written in runes like in balins tombs room thing :s But I've no idea what to write! Some thing kinda mystical or the kinda thing galadriel would say lol. any suggestions? I be very gratful! :love:

Hey, I am 16 too and my advice is get a copy of The Hobbit with the moon runes all around it and transcribe it around your room. Or, you could get your copy of Return of The King and just copy the Cirth chart until you are satisfied. But my goal with "Tolkienizing" my room would be to paint The Doors of Durin on my wall.

My god thats a antastic idea! lol thankies, hmmmmm still think if i made something up myself it might be more erm original but the words on durins door are quite cool. thankies!

Hey! I've already "tolkienized" my room. I painted the doors of Moria onto my door, I've done the Elvish writing from the ring in a circle around my light switch, I've painted my favourite poems onto my walls and I've also painted the characters onto my walls. A suggestion for what you should write in runes, choose one of your favourite poems from the movies/books and translate that into runes! That would make it a little more personal.

Wow CelticMoon your room is soooo cool! I wish my mum would let me 'Tolkienize' my room but I know there's no way she'll let me! By the way the poem which you chose is my favourite one too!!

I think if I made my room 'Tolkienish' I would probably either go for 'elvish' colours like light blues and greens. Although I do like Gondor too so I'd paint a big tree of Gondor on one of my walls. That is if my mum let me! My room could be really great. I have a whole idea of what it would look like. Now I just need to keep pleading my mum until she finally gives in and lets me!!! (that might take some time!)

Oh and in answer to your question. The Cirith chart is in the appendices of Return of the King and it is so you can translate things into runes. Like the ones on Balin's Tomb. I would suggest that you could pick a quote you really like from the film or book, translate that and then you could paint that on your walls.

Hi again, thanks for the suggestions but does anyone have any ideas of what to translate? i don't really want pictures cos im not really "tolkienizing" my room,i just want some runes whether tolkieny or not. i like the idea of using the cirith chart but i don't get how to use it! lol
btw your pictures look really cool!

One thing you could do is download the Dwarvish fonts from this website (it's under Multimedia and Fonts) and then you could just type out your favourite quote and it will come out int he Dwarvish font!
