Robert Kazinsky has long been replaced by Dean O'Gorman for the part of Fili.

And Ryan Gage has actually been given the part of 'Alfrid' supposedly the Master of Laketown's assistant.

Also, Benedict Cumberbatch will be voicing the Necromancer, apart from Smaug.

Many thanks, llandir, for spotting those. I completely forgot about O'Gorman replacing Kazinsky.
I've made the neccessary corrections.

I''m very happy that Martin Freeman is going to play Bilbo! And I'm also very happy that Hugo Weaving, Ian Mckellen and Christopher Lee are going to reprise their roles again.

And Stephen Fry!!! fan-girl-mode-on *bounces around happily* fan-girl-mode-off

This is very interesting... I trust that this will meet my expectations. The whole thing seems to be well cast.

Well the trailer that is out now kind of answers the Frodo question. I'm going to throw a wild guess out there and say that since Thranduil ruled Mirkwood and Legolas is his son, then it only stands to reason that he'll happen to be there.

Elijah Wood is gonna be back? That's a pleasant surprise!

And I'm also excited about Evangeline Lilly. I had no idea she was going to be in the movies before I got here. Thanks for posting this topic, Linwe!

You could always add Sir Ian Holm? Most of us know him already, but it'd be another Sir to add to the list

You're absolutely right, calenmarwen. Sir Ian Holm needs to be on this list. *rectifies*

Poor old Conan Stevens. He's the actor supposed to be cast in for the role as Bolg. If you look at the end credits for the Desolation Of Smaug you will see that Laurence Makaore is cast as Bolg.

Peter Jackson's daughter, is the waitress at the beginning of the movie in Bree and James Nesbitt's(Bofur) two girls play the daughters of Bard.
