Boromir is way wrong there; you can if you are an ally of Mordor (Orcs etc.) What he meant to say (but did not say so clearly) is that none of The Fellowship or their allies could simply do so.

Why was it Oromë and not one of the other Valar who discovered the Elves?

Because the Uruks throw such horrid parties, and they did not want to feel obligated to join in. Poor Boromir is evidence of just how terrible Uruks are at parties.

He thought Gandalf could make better use of it. Cirdan was more affiliated with water, after all, but Nenya was already taken.

Why is Nenya made of silver (or possibly mithril?), while Vilya and Narya are gold?

Celebrimbor had a bit of foresight, so when he gave Nenya to Galadriel, he was sure it would not be misplaced. Vilya was given to Gil-galad, who passed it on to Elrond, and Narya was given to Cirdan, who passed it on to Gandalf, which Celebrimbor foresaw too, and figured that the golden color would make it easier for the sloppy holders to find it when they had misplaced it (I mean, look at Sauron and his One Ring!!!)

The Feanorian brothers were not much good at cooking for themselves, never mind their (non-herbivore) animals. Huan had heard that Melian (a Maia, of course) was an otherworldly cook, and figured switching families was certain to vastly improve the vittles he was to get.

He was still so mad at the Dwarves of Belegost, whose Lord Azaghâl, while Glaurung slew him, injured Glaurung in a way which forced him to withdraw from the Nirnaeth Arnoediad, making him look bad. He was actually destroying anything that looked like a Dwarven Dwelling, and had he known there were no Dwarves at Nargothrond, he probably would not even have bothered with it.
