He had tried neck chains, but the links were much too fiddly for his rather coarse co-ordination.

Why did Celebrimbor and the other Elves of Eregion really accept Sauron's help (in his then possible incarnation as Annatar) in forging Rings of Power?

Because of his beauty and waist-length hair, they thought he she was the most beautiful elf-maiden they had ever laid eyes on so they had a competition to see who could win his her hand by creating a ring that would win his her heart.

She took one look at how her eight "men" had decorated Formenos and instantly decided she wanted nothing to do with what millennia later would be referred to as "fraternity chic".

Denethor had a really bad memory for names, so he had a secret list to help him out, which was sorted alphabetically. So he always came across Boromir's name first.

Why did Éowyn really refuse to stay behind at Dunharrow when the Rohirrim rode to the defense of Gondor?

Gil-galad had gained so much weight that the ring no longer fitted even on his pinky.

It only seemed long to Aragorn, as a mortal. If Arwen had insisted on courtship durations of some Elves in Valinor, Aragorn would have died at 210 years old as a bachelor.

In Balin's tomb (movie), why did Sam really use his cast-iron frying pan as a weapon?

Smaug had not been seen since taking over Erebor because he was busy with the inventory of its riches. Had someone removed on coin, he felt he would have to start all over again (a common misconception among those taking inventory!)

He was getting on in age (yes, this even happens to the Valar, and Morgoth was subject to the swift changes of Middle-Earth!), and he figured he needed some heating for Angband, which was rather chilly, being so far north.

Why did Sauron not go to Aman at the end of the First Age, even though he saw what happened to Morgoth in that horrific war?

He wanted to, but he had left some unused decorative pieces for the halls of Angband down south. By the time he went to get them it was too late, and he had to stay.

Elrond and Elros were twin brothers, so they had sibling competition issues. Elros was given the first choice, so Elrond chose the opposite simply out of spite.

The hunting and fishing was much better in Bree; besides they weren't very anxious to have to start digging knew holes for home in The Shire.

Sam really wanted to ride it all the way to Mordor, and, due to Sams weight, Aragorn felt that it was animal cruelty.

His memory of current events was a bit shaky, but he knew a lot of history, so he got confused and thought Osgiliath was still the capital of Gondor.

Haha E~S

She couldn't stand the shape of the phial. Shelob was a great admirer of the Art-Deco style and the phial went against all of her artistic principles.
