Post Three Magic Words - IN MEMORIUM (Lindarielwen)
on: May 13, 2013 06:26
This is a game I got from my realm. I will just repost what was written there by Nenya_Ring.

"A dear hobbit friend thought Ulmonites might enjoy this 3MW thread I started in the Games Forum. The first person gives three words, and the next one has to twist them into a phrase or a poetic fragment or any piece of literary creation about characters and events on Arda. It can be as strange as you want it to be - just use your fantasy and try not to alter the words if you can. People should be able to realize, when reading it, what character/event it refers to; if the creator believes that point is not clear enough, they should add a short explanation at the end. I'll post one of my older entries as an example:

ancient ~ sword ~ new

Quick ran his fingers o’er ancient runes
That crumble with the thickening dew;
“By sword will he that through despair returns
Instill a hope in hearts both old and new.”

A different view on the prophecy related to Aragorn."
Then you post three words for the next person to use. I would say you can do a poem about whatever you want if you can't think of one about something in Arda.

New words: See ~ Valiant ~ Gold

See the valiant of heart,
All clad in gold
Riding forth upon their gallant steeds
To fate unknown, yet remain they bold.

I was having a very difficult time trying to find a word that rhymed with "Gallant" and that fit well in the poem. Since I could not, for the life of me, think of a good word, I had to end it there. Plus I'm not all that fantastic with writing poetry anyway. But it was my first try.

I forgot to put the next words lol.

Brave ~ Knave ~ Cave

(There, I even gave you rhyming words. Not sure if it will help any though.)

Brave is the Knave,
Who wanders in the Cave,
Where dark things sleep in the flaming deeps.

Uh....I guess this could be looked at as something about dwarves and Moria, or Erebor. And it's probably terrible. LOL

Strong ~ Warrior ~ Home
'If they have a fault it is distrust of strangers. Though their magic was strong even in those days they were wary. They differed from the High Elves of the West, and were more dangerous and less wise.' ~ Flies and Spiders The Hobbit

Oh, my heart, you must be strong
The warrior I love has been gone so long
His journey takes him far from home
Upon his horse, he still must roam.

This is about Arwen waiting for Aragorn to return.

Mighty~~~Shadow~~~Darkness

are the words supposed to be used in the order they are posted?

Mighty warriors ride into darkness,
Knowing not what shall befall them
Shadows ahead, oh, beware!
Oh dear Sun, show your sweet face,
So my lover will be safe.

Yes, yes, pathetic. Oh well.

And no, Lindarielwen, you can use them in whatever order you wish.

Homeward, homeward we are bound,
Where our kindred may be found.
We press onward, onward to the West,
When we arrive we shall find rest.
Until then, love keep faith! Be strong!
I'll be coming home with joyful song...
Our loving hearts in time will beat,
Our meeting will be bittersweet.

I was thinking of the elves at first, but this really could be applied to any of the people of Middle earth, returning home after the struggle against the foe. I hope to right more about each of the races in particular as well.

Crashing ~ Glorious ~ Moon

The waves are crashing against the shore
As elves move slowly to the ships,
To sail home, to the West.
Oh how glorious look they!
The moon rising as they sail away.

Elves leaving Middle Earth for The West, but I guess that's kinda obvious.

Night ~ Elves ~ Hope

The Elves awakened from their sleep
The night had promises to keep
They saw the stars up in the sky
Stars gave them hope
But they knew not why

The Elves were the Firstborn and when they awoke, they first saw the stars and loved them and loved also the one who made them...Varda.

The terrible danger was all around
The hero had yet to win his crown
He fought his way through Middle-Earth
Swinging his sword for all he was worth.

A small poem about Aragorn's struggle before he was crowned king. Btw, around and crown is an eye rhyme

Silverlight ~ Bridge ~ Evenstar

Have fun with that one

The Silverlight was not working
The bridge was falling down
The Evenstar pendant was stolen
Aragorn could not find his crown.

This is about mishaps...

Dunedain~~~Theoden~~~Grond

Aragorn traveled with the Dunedain
On a mission that would be told in a story
While Grond battered Minas Tirith's gates
Theoden charged for glory.

Found ~ Escaped ~ Buttons

Bilbo found Gollum's ring,
And when Gollum was angered
about loosing the game,
On slipped the ring,
And Bilbo escaped.
Away he ran,
But he got caught on some rocks,
And off burst his buttons
In all directions.

Bilbo escaping from Gollum after Riddles in the Dark.

I accept the challenge!

Bilbo was lost in a cave.
All in all he was terribly brave.
He won fair and square,
But Gollum didn't care,
So he found his way out then forgave.

Eat ~ Feet ~ Sleep
If anyone had happened to look out of a window on the east side of the palace, they might have noticed two figures in the darkness, dancing in a square bordered by living plants, out of time with the dancers inside but perfectly in time with each other.

I LOVE THIS GAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There was once a hobbit with large feet.
And all it would do was eat.
One day there was a word,
that everyone had heard,
and it was that the Hobbit had gone to sleep!

Sorry for the strange little limrick, those were great words, wolf!

Thanks maxie!

Sauron wanted to rule the world,
Grima was filled with hate.
Saruman was annoyed so Gandalf he hurled,
And the fire was Gollum's fate.

Cheese, Sneeze, Potato

The cheese made Gollum sneeze,
Sam said PO-TA-TOES go well in stew,
The breeze chilled Frodo's knees,
And Pippin lost his shoe. [that he didn't have.]

Well that was weird...

Oh, that the Tower is so tall!
It nearly reaches the Sky!
I wonder if the Ring of Power is in yonder Tower.
If only the Troll could but reach the top,
And now I must ponder this very odd thing, that the Troll could not reach the top!

That is interesting!

Dwarves sharpen their axes
fires from the chimney burn bright,
all around the doors open--
