"Her gown was green, green as young reeds, shot with silver like beads of dew; and her belt was of gold, shaped like a chain of flag-lilies set with the pale blue eyes of forget-me-nots."
Lesson 9 exercise (question) on: March 07, 2015 10:44
Hello everyone, I have a question concerning item #8 of the exercise on lesson 9, where it is asked to translate "not joyous" into Sindarin, so I did. My translation was alveren and also úveren (since it is an exercise, the more different options I can try, the better). But my workbook mentor gave the correct answer as alell (al-+gell – here lenited to 'ell), which of course is correct, indeed. But I can't see why alveren and úveren could not mean "not joyous". Thanks in advance!
