Post Laer Cú Beleg

Some of you guys could bring me some help? Cause I'm working on a theatre play about the Children of Húrin, and I'd like to include that song, Laer Cú Beleg -The lament that Túrin writes about his dead friend when he arrives to Eithel Ivrin.

I've seen some english fan-made versions of it but I wanted my character to sing it in "original version". The question is, this song would be written in Quenya or Sindarin?

Túrin lived in Doriath since he was a little child, so he know better Sindarin (Also his friend Nellas taught him ancient Sindarin words), but I don't know for sure if songs used to be written in Sindarin, cause great histories and epic poems were written in Quenya, as I know.

I would think it more likely to have been in Sindarin, since King Thingol banned the use of (Noldorin) Quenya in his realm after learning of the Kinslaying at Alqualondë by the Noldor.
