Unfortunately, she left it at home and it began to rain.

Fortunately, Frodo was able to help her out with an Elven cloak.

Unfortunately she was too "plump" to fit the cloak.

Image Very much non-canon, to my feeling! At least when she was freed from the lockholes, in which even "Fatty" Bolger lost weight to belie his nickname, she cannot have been remotely "plump!"

Fortunately, the cloak being an Elven one, it quickly adjusted to her "plumpness".

Unfortately Lotho "borrowed" it.

Fortunately, being and Elven cloak (able to sense evil) it absolutely refused to cooperate with Lotho in any way at all.

Unfortunately he 'lost' it in the Green Dragon.

Fortunately, Pippin was able to retrieve it and return it to Frodo later that night.

Unfortunately, the Elven leaf pin was missing so he couldn't wear it.

Fortunately, Rosie found the leaf pin under a table in the corner.

Unfortunately, Rosie found the leaf pin to be so pretty that she was unwilling to give it back.

Unfortunately, the leaf pin was slightly bent, as some casks of ale had been dragged over it.

Unfortunately, he forgot to put a clasp on it so it couldn't be pinned to the cloak.

Fortunately, he had a spare clasp on his workbench, which he was able to attach to the leaf pin.

Unfortunately, by this time it was summer and Frodo refused to wear the cloak in the hot weather.

Fortunately, he discovered he could stash his cloak in Elrond's Last Homely House.

Unfortunately, he was unable to find the cloak among the many other items of clothing when the weather became colder again.

Unfortunately, it did not match the other Fellowship members' cloaks very well.

Unfortunately, the bright crimson color had quite the opposite effect of the camouflage that the original cloak from Lothlórien provided, rather making him stick out like a sore thumb wherever he was.

Fortunately, he was confident that the other members would be able to handle any issues arising from his cloak's bright color.

Unfortunately, this was only true in the deciduous forests of the Shile in the fall, while in the coniferous forests around Rivendell the bright crimson cloak stood out so blatantly that the other members refused to take a walk in them with him and his cloak.

Unfortunately, the other members found talking to a disembodied voice during the walks even more disconcerting than the red cloak.

Unfortunately, as Frodo had for some unfathomable reason become stubborn about continuing to wear the One Ring, the new Elven cloak did absolutely nothing to improve the somewhat unnerving situation.

Fortunately, Sam was able to get Frodo to put the One Ring on a necklace so he couldn't just disappear for the fun of it.

Unfortunately, this made people ask Frodo why he was wearing what was obviously a ring, and such a plain one at that, as a necklace pendant.

Fortunately, Elrond and Gandalf decided to join Frodo and wear what appeared to be plain rings on necklaces of their own.

Unfortunately, this only led to people annoying Elrond and Gandalf with the same stupid questions with which they had already driven Frodo to distraction.

Unfortunately, now the Orcs started asking the same stupid questions as the 'botherers' that they had scared away.

I really must login more often as I'm lagging behind now.
