Post How do I pronounce my name?

Pretty sure I've been saying it wrong for 8 flipping years... Its Maranwe. I used to pronounce it like Mare-an-wee. But I'm pretty sure that's very wrong... I think it's supposed to be Mahr-an-way, but I'm not certain. Can anyone help me please? -_-

More like Mahr-an-veh; the two a-s are pronounced as in English 'car'.

Yes...i understand that the 'a's are long, that's not really in dispute at this point. The 'E' is what's giving me trouble... where do you get a 'v' sound out of that...

The e is like the sound in bed. It should remain short even at the end of a word.

To hear the correct pronunciation you can use google translate: type the word maranwe and set the language to Finnish. Then click the audio button in the bottom left corner.

Oh, that's because Tolkien based Quenya pronunciation on Finnish and Latin
