Depends on what kind of dish the beef is served as. For the steak class (including a dream of a Beef Wellington that my deceased mother used to make), that's correct.

TNP's favorite fruits belong to the citrus species.

Well, it has certainly gained favor with me, as we are finally getting some desparately needed precipitation. But it may be a case of my becoming disgusted with blazing summers more that anything else.

TNP has lived in a place that has a summer monsoon.

Yep, three times in the French Savoyard Alps, twice in the Austrian Tyrolean Alps, and once in the eastern Austrian Alps. But my alpine skiing days are over 20 years in the past ...

TNP has owned a car powered by a Diesel engine.

I've just noticed the date of my posts is wrong. It's showing Dec 24th instead of Dec 25th.

Nope. All my cars have run on petrol.

TNP ate ham on Christmas day.

A ham sandwich, yes (we prefer our big meal on Christmas Eve, somewhat contrary to German tradition, and thus don't need much to sustain us on the 25th )

TNP will be buying some fireworks for New Year's Eve / New Year.

No. Fireworks are actually illegal in Canada unless you purchase a license to have them. It's a somewhat flawed system, as you can imagine. Hopefully, no idiot will be lighting them near me. They terrify Oscar.

TNP will toast the New Year with champagne, or some other 'sparkly' drink.

Evil~Shieldmaiden said: No. Fireworks are actually illegal in Canada unless you purchase a license to have them.

Pretty much the same here - except for a short time before New Year's Eve, when sales of safety-certified fireworks are allowed to private persons - this year starting with today. Too many idiots buy illegal stuff, mostly from the former East Bloc (probably including China), and of course even legal fireworks can be dangerous when mishandled by idiots ... Image

Some other. Champagne, being a term confined to products of a certain growing region in France, costs a bit more than we are willing to spend for that New Year's toast. (Note: something over ten years ago, (part of?) the company decided to show their appreciation for the employees' contribution to the fiscal year's financial success by treating the employees to a bottle of actual French Champagne each, a name one too. Well, my wife and I toasted that New Year with that exclusive bubbly - my conclusion was that I am just not a fan of any sparkling wines, no matter what they cost!)

TNP will be celebrating New Year's Eve with neighbors.

Go out (eating), yes; dancing, no.

TNP has a favorite beverage for New Year's Eve (leaving aside the bubbly wine).

Yes, I watched the Sydney fireworks display on TV at midnight.

TNP has recently talked to their relatives, either in person or on the phone.

Goodness, no. It's summer here, and I'm not planning to go anywhere where winter sports would be feasible.

Not unless you count the thin crust of ice on the bird bath next to our buiding entrance.

TNP has had snowfall that has remained past noon on the following day.

I certainly hope not! It's warmed up considerably since yesterday.

Depends on what period in the last few decades you compare it to, I would guess. We have without a doubt had a trend towards milder (and wetter?) winters - and hotter and drier summers - over the decades. So probably it's been an average winter for recent years, mild compared to earlier decades.

TNP has already needed to shovel some snow during this winter.

Nope. Not so far anyway but we still have February to survive.

TNP has had a measurable amount of snow this year.

Barely measurable. And it never lasted more than two days (some places in the Alps recently had up to 3 meters!!!)

TNP lives near a body of water which has frozen over at least once this winter.

If you count the water in the runoff ditches, yes, otherwise no.

TNP has experienced at least one snowfall this year.

Yup, but the snow melted away the following day at the latest each time.

TNP has a place they can go ice-skating nearby.

Well, to reach some stores we have to drive over the bridge spanning the railway tracks, if that counts.

TNP once lived in accommodations that were on the 10th floor or higher.

Not with my parents, or solo, or with my wife. When visiting Germany pre-1975, we usually stayed at my maternal grandmother's place in Cologne, which had been damaged during WW II, but not so badly that it couldn't be rebuilt.

TNP has been inside a building that predates Columbus's 1492 voyage.

Yes I have. I've been inside some British and Irish cathedrals and buildings dating before that period. I actually spent a lot of time visiting various cathedrals in England and Scotland. Ely is my personal favourite.

TNP has been to the Louvre in Paris.
