Post Naming continents
on: August 06, 2017 07:22
The English names of all of earth's continents, with the exception of Europe, end with the letter "A" creating an "ah" sound. Asia, Africa, America etc. I was wondering then if there were some equivalent sound, or symbol in Quenya that designates a word as a continent's name.

There is no Quenya word or suffix that specifically means 'continent'. What I can suggest is to use either the suffix -nor/-nóre meaning 'land' (as in Valinor, Númenor), or -ion/-ionde meaning 'region, any extensive land with a natural boundary'.
