Two things that I've always found annoying about the scene where Shelob stabs Frodo with her stinger:

1) The wound alone from that pretty big sharp object would have killed any human, no less a hobbit.

2) I guess Frodo's mithril coat can withstand pretty much everything, except for a spider's stinger.

It's another example of PJ going full action movie. No such problem in the book, Frodo is bitten in the neck, not stabbed by an enormous bee sting thing at the wrong end. I expect somebody pointed out the problem just before the release.

Did PJ actually do that?!? I can just imagine the thunderous boos that would erupt at a screening for biology majors / graduate students etc. at that gaffe. Six legs = insect, eight legs = the spider bunch (or arachnids). Yup, the scorpions belong to the latter bunch, but they carry their tail-end stings in an entirely different way. Image
