I was born and live in Germany, but I'm Canadian and have something against the lack of ice hockey here My parents are from Toronto.

No question, the DEL (Deutsche Eishockey Liga) ain't the NHL, but it IS a professional league. Currently, there are clubs in Augsburg, Berlin, Düsseldorf, Hamburg, Ingolstadt, Iserlohn, Köln, Krefeld, Mannheim, München, Nürnberg, Schwenningen, Straubing and Wolfsburg. So travelling distance and time to see games live should be much smaller than from the vast majority of locations in the US and Canada.
Just checked Wikipedia, Germany is a bit smaller than Montana, which is the fourth largest state of the US after Alaska, Texas and California. So the density of ice hockey clubs far surpasses any conceivable area of similar size that you could construe out of any section of the US and Canada.

Well, I once visited Canada, but it was less than a week. Pretty long time ago, too.
My parents and I visited the Expo (19)67 World Fair in Montreal, and some acquaintances of ours in Toronto. With them, we also visited the Niagara Falls.
