Perhaps you are like me Lentiadok. When it comes to Legolas' bows and his White Knives, I find them equally graceful looking and deadly so it is hard to choose which one.

I love Strider's ranger sword the best, though Faramir's bow is a close second.

Definitely a bow! Though of course, I would have some knives and poisons to compliment them!

Legolas's bow, as an archer I have to say that. I really need to find a way to get it.

I honestly would have to say Aragorn's ranger sword. It is the perfect length, and as much as I love the bow, I can safely say I would take on anything in Middle-Earth except sauron if I had a good sword It doesn't hurt to put in any practice with it either lol!

Actually, Gandalf's sword Glamdring comes in a close second for swords I like.

Too bad Frodo doesn't use Sting a whole lot. It is really cool. One strange thing though, Gandalf's sword never seems to glow even in Moria when there are tons of orcs around...

Different type of steel? Or maybe it was out of batteries

Hehe, I was watching behind the scenes on the Rotk and Sir Ian asked Peter Jackson (in reference to the Nazgul) "Why don't I just zap them?" to which Peter Jackson replied "You ran out of batteries". Go figure

Does anyone ever wonder how Glamdring survived the Fall of Gondolin? It was Turgon's sword, an he died when his tower was destroyed, so it was probably buried beneath the rubble, right?

Well I expect a troll was digging around in the rubble, found it and then walked hundreds of miles over the mountains to the Ettenmoors. Actually there's probably a detailed explanation in HoME somewhere.

Ok, I will check it out...wonder how long trolls live, because the Fall of Gondolin was thousands of years before The Hobbit.

My ideal LotR weapon would be Legolas's bow from Galadriel with elvish arrows that the tips of glow blue when bad things (orcs, goblins, dragons, balrogs...)are around.

Sting...I would like a weapon that glows when dangers near..so I can get the heck out. Hahah. Plus Sting is small and not heavy like all the swords.

I really like the knives of Legolas. I don't think they are very practical, but they are beautiful.
Oh, and Gandalf the grey's staff of course.

The only weapons I was ever trained to use were firearms, having been drafted into the West German army for a 15-month stint in 1977/78. So for any weapon mentioned in books or films, I’m afraid I’m stuck with Sam’ cast-iron frying pan if I want to avoid self-mutilation (if a lump on the head doesn’t count) .
I did have archery classes in high school (several years before army duty), but never got beyond a simple bow with about 40 lbs. draw weight.
I have done some reading about archery, specifically the English longbow. Typical draw weight was 130 (!) lbs . The highly trained English longbow specialists started training in late childhood, so forget about that . I’m not even going to start about Legolas’s Galadhrim war bow, and what was that about Uruk-hai compound bows? Draw weight 300 (!!!) lbs. ?? Yeah, sure.
Fantasy: longbow.
Reality: frying pan.

My favorites from the movies are Sting and Legolas's bows. I much prefer the curved "elven" shape of Sting and Orcrist to, say, Glamdring.

I have to go with Gimli's throwing axes and his main axe. They are beautiful with the Dwarven runes. My second favorite however is Sting. (:

For me it's Tauriel's Bow followed by Sting. I liked the curved blades too like Legolas and Tauriel's swords, but Sting is so beautiful. And even fictionally, the fact that it glows blue makes it my favorite.

I loved the Elvish swords in the prologue and have a representation of Hadafang, which was actually passed down to Elwing from her mother's side. I also have Legolas' twin daggers. If I could find one, I would love an Elvish bow like either Legolas or Haldir and his brothers. Actually Peter Jackson found a great group to make the weapons of LoTR because they aren't so fanciful that they would be useless, yet are beautiful to look at.

Indeed, Belle! Have you seen the WETA shop online? I think they sell the bows.

I have to say the elven spear swords from the prologue of the fellowship are pretty awesome but glamdring is a close second. Also to Beren_Onehand about glamdring never glowing, I noticed that too its odd.
