It’s a scimitar. You can see its sheath. If it was a bow, you would see the string.

To finally end the argument of “The thing on Haldir’s left hip” It’s a sword…
…It’s identical to the ones Elrond and Gil-Galad use in FOTR at the Battle of the Last Alliance.

Someone took it during a break in filming. I saw Craig Parker in an interview a few weeks ago and…
…he had the sword with him. Seanthi was right, it’s a scimitar style sword, only sharp on one side.
The little ‘string’ that has been taken for a bow string is the cord attaching the scabbard to his belt.
This is the sword he *sniff* died using at Helm’s Deep. Sorry if I ruined everyone’s fun..
..But I’m sure we can find somethign else to ‘argue’ about..like who’s got the better hair, Haldir or Leggie?

look at the prolouge of FotR. The handles of the elven warriors swords are the same length as the blade…
