it Ãs green! I thought that was just the play of light or the way the scenes had been coloured

I have this book! I have all three, in fact. Apparently a green dress was to represent new beginnings.

Good point,silverdeath. For all we know, it could be purple! It was less green in the movie.

They sure got a lot of milage out of that dress pattern. At least 3 of Arwen’s dresses, and some of Eowyn’s…
…used the exact same pattern, just with different colors and materials.
