Either there’s a munchin in there or there isn’t much scale involved in this
It’s fun to see how Tolkien himself thought about Bag End
big door – little table and Bilbo. Interesting, though.
PJ did a very good job in bringing Tolkiens drawn vision to screen as well as the written.
I agree with the above post. He did a great job. This drawing looks really close to the movie version.
I .like this drawwing but, sorry, i like John/Alans painting of Bag End. It may be based on this…
Interesting how the picture bends like the walls.
He’s a good artist, just not much scale, unless Bag End’s ceilings are supposed to be high like we have today.
I love Tolkiens artwork he does better then any artists because this is how he imaged bagend!
It makes sense for the place to be big; remember, Bag End was the hobbit equivalent of a mansion.
well, i certainly think PJ did a good job recreating the house itself; its very….cozy, despite the size.
I really like this artwork. It’s jsut guite interesting to see thekind of things that Tolkien himself drew…
it looks like in the movie… nice!
that is so slick
it’s so perfect!
I have a friend with a really super old copy of The Hobbit.. this was one of the drawings in it!
It’s so great in black and white; just think of how it would look with color!
Whoa, something drawn by Tolkien himself! I want it just so I can touch a copy of something he himself touched
i dont think biblo can reach the door handle
Cute…Very wide and roomy.
I don’t think Bilbo can reach the door handle either. It’s big, but cute in a cozy kinda way! ^_^
That is amazing. It is cool to see Tolkien
That is amazing. It is cool to see Tolkien’s perspective on the different areas of his world.
It looks bigger than what I imagined
looks very movie inspired…
@Mithrandir: I think it goes the other way around: Tolkien -> Howe -> movies.
