The browns seem to give it the “Mirky” atmosphere

That’s seems quite possible–I always imagined it as being really thick with trees and quite dark.
thick and dark indeed, but the gardens and clearings about the palace gates would no doubt be more open.

The Elves cut clean clearings here and there as they saw fit. They’d lived there fore ages, y’know.
