"And when the tidings came to Balar of the fall of Gondolin and the death of Turgon, Ereinion Gil-galad son of Fingon was named High King of the Noldor in Middle-earth."
Body itself is a clothing to the Ainur, so I don’t think they really care about clothing as we know it all that much, not for themselves. They don’t need it as we do.
I don’t mind Yavanna having some curves, either. In various ancient cultures fertility is depicted with curves in art, and Yavanna definitely has fertility.

This is very pretty, but I always thought of yavanna as wearing slightly more clothing.
Ewww! NO!! Huston, we have a problem. WE NEED MORE CLOTHES!
I think the lack of clothes is perfect cos her bare skin highlights her “roots” instead of veins. Love it!!
i love the unruly look. smudged with dirt. beautful in a very simple way
i’m sorry geekyelf and staroftheDunedain but i agree with Erraen. it’s got that “unruly” look.
Uh huh, right. Anyways, I think it’s beautiful!
I think its perfect, I wouldnt change a thing. The clothes (or lack thereof) show her earthy-ness and simplici
…simplicity. All-natural.
I think it’s lovely. She looks very sad, so pretty. Hard to believe this isn’t a photo! ^_^
see the tree bent near the top left corner? an ent?
Thanks a lot! I will consider to paint more clothes next time, and yes, it’s an ent!
Kind of looks like a Yavanna who’s been lost in the winderness for a few days. Lol! But, really, it is a
beautiful interpretation. I’ve not seen anything like it.
mikeljanin, I wouldn’t change a thing. I think it’s gorgeous!
I know it sounds crazy, but I like her hair and her collarbones, but she needs more clothing. Sorry I’m being
picky, but I am so ha!! lol. It doesn’t really look like Yavanna, you know? Sort of too human-with-out-clothes
…gah! stupid computer. Ahem…as I was saying…it’s absolutely beautiful just the way it is.
omg people the cloths are finr shes perfectly covered !! its also a great picture
Mikel, I think she is absolutely gorgeous just the way she is. I personally don’t think the Valar are very
concerned about clothing or lack thereof. ^_~ And in this case, it really works for Yavanna, imho.
I think that clothes are not a facter in this particular case and that it is amazing whatever some might say.
still, very good painting, verybeautiful
Yes, I agree, she’d look more pure with more clothing, Varda as well. But otherwise they are wonderful.
I never thought that one of my pictures could be so polemic… Next time I will paint her completely nude! 😉
lol mikeljanin. Not enough clothing huh? Why don’t you say that to the artists that painted the Greek Gods
and Goddesses? They deserve a lot more. 🙂
I think she’s perfect the way it is. I love the detail of the forest behind her!
I think she does not need clothes the same way humans and Elves may because she is in fact a Valië.
I think Yavanna looks *very* beautiful. 🙂 Her eyes are gorgeous.
Okay, we’ve established that she’s not wearing a whole lot. The painting is not going to change. The end.
Well done! Hah, I just noticed there’s an ent in the background about to bend over.
Very loveley, exactly how I pictured Yavanna. Though none of us can draw or paint a picture that can really do
Yavanna justice. She is… as some would say ” The Unreachable Beauty” of the art world.
Hmm… it captures her naive side very well, but I think she needs more clothes.
What can I say, I’m a Yavanna fan. This pic really seems to capture her as real and at-one with nature.
i have no problem with the ammount of clothing. why would a Valie be concerned with that??
I think she’s BEAUTIFUL!! This is the Best Yavanna I’ve seen yet!Way to go Janin!
WOW. What a *pretty* woman.
Wow, this is amazing. I always pictured Yavanna to be more flower-y, but this take on her being more like
the trees she loves so much is really original and fits the character. And I don’t think she shows too much..
Oh my god… this is gorgeous… WELL DONE!!!!
lol. Very Nice painting!
I almost couldn’t believe it wasn’t a photo
funny I never pictured her as a blond…
somebody tell the artist this: please draw Galadriel and Arwen
Nice. It looks like it was drawn after she had fafiled to fix the world’s hurts… wooooooow
when I first saw it I thought it was a picture
me too, I was like woah……there’s not actor as of yet I know of that has played the valar…..but ifyou
look at it a little closer you can see that it isn’t, I agree with the clothes things, but I can’t do half as
good so I can’t complain, awesome painting.
Ok, we get it, more cloths, but will you all shut up about it. Ita a great painting, and saying”more clothes”
300,000 times wont change anyhting, it is still an amazing painting, with incredible detail.
Ignoring the clothes thing because it’s a silly thing to gripe about and in reality there’s nothing even
showing, this is fantastic! The ent in the background is a good treat for the people who spent some time
looking at something other than Yvanna’s slight lack of coverage. The only thing I see that’s a bit off is her
hand on the tree: it looks a bit too small…but, the rest of the pic makes up for it. 🙂
The hand does look a little small, but other than that I love it. The amount of clothes is FINE!
she needs no other clothes coz like this she looks one with nature! accually, she reminds me of the greek
goddess of hunting and nature, artemis
THAT IS THE PERFECT REALLY AWESOME
That is such B-E-A-uitful drawing. She looks like a Yvanna. bravo! gorgeous gorgeous
(Rule 6 applies especially well here, & Alasse said it best). Anyway, beautiful picture. Love the Ent detail.
I imagined her hair to be a little longer & perhaps a more earthy colour but all the same..
WOW! It looks so real! Gorgeous!
The lack of clothes actually adds to the pic. It makes her look more “wild.”
It’s sbsolutely wonderfull. the only thing I would change is I would make her hair longer, a bit darker and
slightly less tangled.
*COUGH*COUGH* From this point on, I’ll be deleting any comments mentioning “clothes”. Thank you.
this great. somehow i pictured her to be a bit more motherly, but a wonderful painting
Waruw!!! That is one of the best pictures I’ve seen here! I love it! I Would like to see much more from this
great artist!
If you look above the cleavage, the ivy-leaf trimming is very nice and her face is beautiful. LOVE the roots
in her skin and the light around the rocks in the stream. The ent is a nice touch. Excellent job!
She looks so young and vulnerable! I love the leaves growing in her hair.
I love this one! I think that it is one of my favorite ones so far!
erm….. what is there to say that hasn’t been said, nothing really… i just want to show my appriciation!
Wow. This picture is gorgeous. So cool.
i love how this almost looks like it was a photo instead of a painting. Janin captured the emotions so well…
Hehe 😛 im in love with a Valar
I like the leafy/rooty lines on the body but I don’t think it works on the face. Glorious background though.
it’s a lovely picture, but i think her face is almost child-like and doesn’t match the rest of her body.
but then, that’s just me. 🙂
I love the twigs in her hair! The Ring Maker: the singular of Valar is Vala JSYK
Thanks everybody. I agree with the hands comments, however the matter is not the size but the position.
I think anyway, that the jpg is a bit low quality. Try here http://www.mikeljanin.net/imagepages/Yavanna.html
Love it. It looks great
Mind rule #6. And please mind Elenisil’s comment too.
I love it….and I wonder if he will paint the rest of the Valier…I’d really like to see that….
I love it. Totally in tune with nature!
WAW! I like this picture! It so … so good….
Amazing, amazing, amazing… love it… I didn’t see her as blonde, but it works well… wow. 😀
Yeah, Yvanna must be blonde. But I always thought of her being older and less atractive.
*points at background* ENT!!! ENT!!!
that face is the most wonderful, gorgeous and unik thing i’ve ever seen! can you print this thing?? 🙂
very well done two thumbs up
I never really imagined yavanna like this but i get where the artist is coming from
Do you ever get sick of people drooling over your work? Just kidding; I’m very impressed.
Ohh… Nice! Have you done one of Lorien? Ifso where do I find it?
I guess I always pictured her wearing green…I like the shadows across her face, though
Excellent! I love it!
Beautimous!!! This is very good. Though, she reminds me of the french woman on LOST. =)
The head of the person looks kinda like Haleth son of Hama in TTT movie lol. No idea who this is. sorry heh
this is the prettiest painting i have ever seen i think it’s gorgous!!!!
Yavanna is as self conscious as the flowers she makes. XD Beautiful work. <3
It beautifully breath taking, and perfect the way it is. She also looks very real..
you have done some of the best paintings I have ever seen! I love the natural-look. I think It’s great!
wow I love her expression so sweet, yet sad.
This is a gorgeous picture. Her lack of clothes simply defines the fact that she is part of nature
and isnt needy of basic human requirements. I cant believe its not a photo!
beautiful!! she reminds me of someone though.did you have anyone in mind when you created this piece of art?
its kinda weird but pretty in the same way!
Pretty, a little showy but pretty.
My only problem is that the stream is brown. Yes it matches the tones and colors of the rest of the picture,
but you would think that Yavanna would have made it bright and clear and fresh instead of muddy.
i think her close wood be less baggy. they would get stuck on branches to easy the way they are right now…
wow she is absolutely gorgeous! congrats.
Wow, she’s beautiful!! I can’t even imagine what Varda looked like..or Nienna
Wonderful , just wonderful.
i LOVE THIS PIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i think its great pic. i always pictured yavanna with black hair for some reason..
I LOVE IT!!!! I would love too see your intrepretation of Nienna and all the other Valie…
Now THAT, is a good, no, FANTASTIC picture! 10 big ones for this!
there’s an ent on the background????
Orome had better not be around…. O.o nice though
Beautiful!
Very beautiful, I like the tatoos on her face and body
I thought she would look good in a silvery-green that was worn slightly higher, but its really beautiful!
I think it’s beautiful! Great work!
I love it! I wouldnt change a thing!
Okay guys, enough with the clothing. Mind rules # 4 and 6.
Lovely depiction of the Queen of the Earth! Fitting I think.
Well I love it. We ALL GET THAT SHE’S NOT WEARING WHAT YOU WANT. Anyway, It’s great! =D
amazing
I love her hair.
I really love her face and hair ^^ And the ent. Love the ent.
I saw this in the random block, and i honestly thought it was a painting – i’m not kidding.
THIS. IS. AMAZING. I STILL CAN’T BELIEVE THIS IS A PAINTING. YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. ok, i’ll shut up now.
