Nyarna
- it basically means a "saga" or a "tale" in Quenya. :-) Since the Legendarium is a series of tales, I liked the term and decided to call my website: Nyarna.
I got interested in Tolkien since I was in my early twenties. A friend of mine mentioned the author to me, and though I had read the books earlier on in my teens, I had not paid grave attention to the scope and the magnamity of subject.
So I went back and I re-read them. And I was hooked. When the movies released, I was stunned by the portrayal, truly, and though I would be the first one to say "the movies don't live up to the books" - this idea was not true when it came to Peter Jackson's visions. I loved them from the first time I saw them - and the Extended Versions are awe-inspiring.

Of all the races of Middle-earth, I find the Elves the most fascinating. In many ways, their culture reminds me of the subculture that I find myself in. There is art and there is refinement, but there is also a deep-seeded melancholy hidden behind their faces. They are a race that can create a huge amount of envy and then again, in some ways, their lives can be a source of despair as well. Remember, they are immortal and beautiful, but swords can cut them down and eventually they, too, grow beards and appear old - moreover, ever-lasting life is not something that those who have it may choose to have. "In small proportions," after all, "life may perfect be."
So I dedicate this page to the First Age of Middle-earth. My most favourite of them all. Filled with valour, and yet so much humanism and finally, destruction.
Also, I would like to mention all the artists whose beautiful pictures I have used to make my webpages look so grand. Some of my favourites (I may not have used their pictures but I truly want to dedicate these pages to their wonderful work, which gives incentive to the imagination):
John Howe, Ted Nasmith, Jenny Dolfen, Alice i Angel Falto, Alan Lee, Catherine Karina Chmiel, Anke Eissmann and, last but not least, Marta Aguado. | |
