Ingredients

1 can (14 oz.) sweetened condensed milk(as we don't have sweetened condensed milk in Austria, I alsways use condensed milk with hones; actually, I think that's even better)
2 tablespoons lemon juice

2 cups quick cooking oats
2 cups chopped dried fruits
1/2 cup coconut OR chopped nuts
1/4 cup unsifted flour

Instructions

Canoe trip cookies:
Preheat oven to 350°F (=200°C)

Mix together in a large bowl:
sweetened condensed milk and lemon juice

2. Add and mix well:
cooking oats
chopped dried fruits
coconut OR chopped nuts
and unsifted flour

3. Drop rounded teaspoonfuls onto greased, or parchment paper lined, baking sheets. Bake for 8-10 minutes, until lightly browned.
Immediately remove from baking sheets and store in a covered container.

The great thing about this recipe is that it can always be altered. So you can use dried apples, raisins, chopped almonds and a lot cinnamon, or you can try rather tropical cookies with dries mango, apricots and shredded coconut. A mix of apricots and cranberries is very good too, but feel free to invent other variations!
