Ingredients

200g icing sugar + a little extra
100g ground almonds
1 teaspoon almond essence
1 egg
1 tablespoon cocoa powder
1 packet chocolate buttons
currants

Instructions

Put ground almonds in mixing bowl, and sift in icing sugar. Add the almond essence and stir.
Break the egg into a cup, and beat with a fork until yolk and white are mixed.
Add the egg to the mixing bowl, a little at a time. Mix until it forms a stiff paste.
Divide the mixture into about 20 pieces. Dust you hands with a little icing sugar, and form each piece into a ball.
Flatten one side of each a little to make a base, and put them down on the plate.
Hold a sieve over the plate and put the cocoa powder into the sieve. Give the bees a good dusting with the powder.
Hold one bee at a time lightly at the sides and use a fork to mark lines across the top. This makes the bees stripes.
Push two chocolate buttons into each bee for wings.
Press in two currants for the eyes of the bees.
Serve and Enjoy!
