Ingredients
2 cups all-purpose flour2 cups sugar
½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1½ teaspoons baking soda
1½ cups milk
½ cup shortening
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 eggs
Instructions
In a bowl combine flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, and ¼ teaspoon of salt. Add milk, shortening, and vanilla. Beat with an electric mixer on low speed till combined. Beat on high speed for 2 minutes. Add eggs and beat 2 minutes more. Pour into 2 greased and floured 9x1½-inch round baking pans. Bake in a 350 degree oven for 30 to 35 minutes or till a toothpick comes out clean. Cool on racks 10 minutes. Remove from pans. Cool on racks.
