When Benn turned sixteen his father was killed in battle. Benn promised his mother and sister that he would avenge his father’s death, but his mother begged him not to go to battle. She knew he would get himself killed.
Benn decided not to leave his mother and sister and would reside with them until he was old enough to make his own decisions.
When he turned eighteen he left home to join the Rangers. His mother still begged him not to go, but he said that he had to, so that he would make his father proud.
When he came there they allowed Benn to be trained. He was placed under Amdireth watch and training.
This was Amdireth first pupil but she taught him very well. He quite admired his teacher for her bravery.
When he told Amdireth about what had happened and why he wanted to fight she warned him against it. She told him her story of why she came and what adventures she had gone through. He was shocked and amazed. He decided he did not want revenge, all he wanted to do was to fight for the good people of Middle earth, and he knew his father would be proud of that.
