AHA rates TTT

AHA (American Humane Association) has an interesting review of The Two Towers, based mostly on the training and care of the animals used in the film. It also gives insight into how some of those cool horse stunts and shots were done.

A bigger role for Arwen?

“…I went down to New Zealand originally to play a totally different character. And it was really hard, because I wasn’t allowed to talk about that for so long, and everybody was asking me. Saying, you know, ‘Is Arwen going to be a fighter?’ And all of these things. The original character of Arwen that was written and scripted was completely different.”

“I was out of my element, like Frodo was out of his. Carrying out this responsibility on this journey, and everybody felt like that. Everybody felt like their journeys mirrored that of their characters. I knew it was going to be like that, that’s part of why I was so excited to go down to New Zealand to work on them, because I knew that we’d have an experience that would mirror that of the book.”

Dourif brings Wormtongue to life

When asked about shaving his eyebrows for the role, Dourif replied, “”I had tons of qualms about it, and my girlfriend really didn’t like it. It took a good six weeks before they looked normal. But it’s part of Wormtongue’s look. You see the veins under his skin, and there are scabs in the wig.”
