The Return of the King for Apple Mac

The RotK videogame is now available for the Apple Mac. There’s a review of the game at apple.com including screen shots, cheat codes and a trailer (QuickTime required). Sir Ian McKellen’s view is, “If you can’t be in the movie, you might as well play the game; it’s the next best thing.”.

Viggo on Richard & Judy

Viggo Mortensen will be appearing on the UK TV show Richard & Judy on Thursday 1st April. According to their website at channel4.com, Viggo will be talking about, “his amazing experience playing Aragorn”. The show airs on Channel 4 at 5pm.

Tolkien Studies journal

The first volume of Tolkien Studies, an annual scholarly review, is due for publication this month. Michael Drout, one of the founding editors, talks about the journal here and you can see the journal brochure here.

A new theme to honor prof. J.R.R. Tolkien!

This theme focuses on the Professor himself; it’s a homage to him, if you will. The theme is nice and light and easy to look at for those of you who are not very fond of bright or dark colors. Enjoy!

The trees link through to the encyclopedia, so you can click on any name in the tree and bring up the encyclopedia article for that person. More trees will be added soon – so keep checking back.

Tolkien scholar to discuss movie adaptations

Dr. T. A. Shippey, a leading expert on Tolkien, will be presenting, “From Page to Screen: Problems Tolkien Set for Jackson” at Hope College in Holland, MI on Thursday, April 1, at 4 p.m. The public is welcome to attend and you can read more about the presentation at hope.edu.
