Foxtrot.com has a new cartoon today combining Disney and LotR themes — guess what the seven dwarves meet under the mountain!
Howard Shore says that, “he felt like Frodo carrying the ring to Mount Doom” when he accepted the task of writing the music for the LotR movies. The US premiere of his symphony will take place this Friday in Columbus. There are further details at kgw.com.

This Thursday, March 25th, is Tolkien Reading Day, being the date of the Downfall of Sauron and the beginning of the Fourth Age. It is a world-wide reading event for schools to show children and teachers the joys of reading Tolkien, as well as being a day for us all to read some Tolkien! He paid more than $40,000 for what he thought was the ‘original’ riding dress worn by Arwen. Ngila Dickson states that the original movie costumes are treasures for Peter and Fran and, “they are going nowhere if he can help it”.
