Singing in Elvish

The Chicago Children’s Choir are busy learning Elvish for the forthcoming performances in Chicago of Howard Shore’s LotR symphony. Part of their preparation will include about 40 hours of singing practice in Elvish. Josephine Lee, artistic director of the choir said, “Singing in Elvish is similar to singing in Latin”. A new addition to the Elvish Names Database

We’ve recently added the Rohirric Names Finder to the Elvish Names Database, where you can now find the equivalent of your name in Old English (the language of the Rohirrim), as well as Sindarin and Quenya — the Elvish Names Database can be found under the Languages menu of CoE.

Have you ever wondered when your favorite star from Lord of the Rings will be on TV? Now you can know! The CoE TV Guide will list almost all of the shows featuring actors and actresses from Lord of the Rings, and what channel their show will be on (US only). All times EST.

New Ian McKellen E-Post

Ian McKellen’s website has updated with a new e-post, in which the actor answers questions about his experiences filming The Lord of the Rings and the cast’s Elvish tattoos, amongst other things.

Happy Birthday Billy!

Billy Boyd (Pippin) was born in Glasgow, Scotland on 28 August 1968 and is 36 years old today. You can read about Billy in CoE’s cast list here. In the CoE gallery there are pictures of Billy here and of Billy in the role of Pippin here.

7th Annual DVD Entertainment Awards

The winners of the 2004 DVD Entertainment Awards will be announced on 30th August. The Two Towers EE has been nominated in a number of categories including Blockbuster Theatrical and Audio Presentation. There’s a list of all the nominees and further details at recordingmedia.org .

Battle for M-E video

The German site gamezoom has posted a 15-minute Battle for Middle-Earth video clip. The movie shows extensive clips of Osgiliath, Isengard, Helm’s Deep and Moria. Also, the content in the clip is very informative.

Ted Nasmith – official site update

The Tolkien gallery section of Ted Nasmith’s official site has been updated with some of his wonderful illustrations taken from the new edition of The Silmarillion (which is due for publication later this month). The pictures include; Tuor is Led by the Swans to Vinyamar and Saeros’ Fatal Leap.

Middle-Earth Online update

The New Zealand Herald has posted an article about the forthcoming Middle-Earth Online game. The release date of this game has been delayed and it is now scheduled to be released late next year.
