LotR trading card game – Black Rider

The latest article at decipher.com is entitled Brutal, Corrupted, Crazed, and Vile. The article, which includes a preview of one of the new cards, is about the 61 minions of the Black Rider expansion set. These include orcs, nazgûl and a balrog.

The Lord of the Rings exhibition

Stuff report that with an average of 3000 visitors a day, the LotR exhibition is set to become the most popular museum exhibition in Sydney. The exhibition is open until 31st March.

Future dates for the exhibition are; 5th June to 28th August at the Houston Museum of Natural Science and 6th October to 3rd January at the Indiana State Museum.

Ringbearers Day 2005

On Saturday 19th March The New York Tolkien Society and Marymount Manhattan College present Ringbearers Day 2005, New York’s 50th Anniversary Celebration of The Lord of the Rings. There are further details about the event at Heren Istarion.

A minimum of $1 from every ticket sold will go to The White Tree Fund, which has been organized by the Tolkien/Lord of the Rings community as a response to the tsunami disaster. There are further details about the fund here.

The Battle for Middle-earth patch is coming

Good news for all those who are playing this game. Later this month, the first patch for The Battle for Middle-earth will be released exclusively on the official site EA Games.

Important Members Art Gallery Announcement

We have received some complaints of members not being able to check the Members Art gallery. In an attempt to solve the problem, we will be performing some changes.

Also, if you have more than 10 images in that gallery and wish to have your own folder this is your chance. PM me or Aowyn with a list of links to all your images and be a bit patient. It may take a month or two. This can also delay any validation of members art in the next few weeks.

Tolkien lecture

On Wednesday January 19th at 7.30 pm Michael Drout, Tolkien scholar and professor of Anglo-Saxon literature, will give a talk entitled, The Lord of the Rings: What the Films Left Out.”
