CoE TV Guide: March 27th – April 3rd

Have you ever wondered when your favorite stars from Lord of the Rings will be on TV? Now you can know! The CoE TV Guide will list almost all of the shows featuring actors and actresses from Lord of the Rings, and what channel their show will be on (US only). All times EST.

This article at Suntimes.com discusses some of the possible links between Wagner’s Ring Cycle, Star Wars and Lord of the Rings. However, as the article points out while George Lucas did admit his allegiance to Wagner, Tolkien’s view was, “Both rings were round…and there the resemblance ceased.”

Tolkien panel discussion

On Tuesday 29th March, Illinois Central College are hosting a panel discussion on “The Lord of the Rings at 50”. The panellists will include Tolkien scholar Tom Shippey. There are further details, including a question and answer session with Tom Shippey, at PJStar.com.

This event will take place at the Performing Arts Center, East Peoria campus. Admission is free.

Tolkien tops book survey

The Lord of the Rings has topped the New Zealand Sunday Star-Times Top 50 books survey, beating other contenders including Pride and Prejudice and To Kill a Mockingbird. You can read more at Stuff.co.nz.
