Beowulf and Grendel

The film Beowulf and Grendel will be released in Canada on March 10th. Based on the Old English epic poem the film chronicles the exploits of Beowulf, a Scandinavian hero who saves the Danes from the indomitable monster Grendel. J.R.R. Tolkien was the author of “Beowulf: The Monster and The Critics” and some say it was one of many inspirations for The Lord of the Rings.

You can find out more about the film at the official website here and in the Literature Studies section of CoE you can find an article on Heroism in Beowulf and The Hobbit here.
